Healthcare for All: Reaching Rural Communities
In remote rural areas where access to healthcare is limited, Chaanan organizes free medical camps to provide essential services to those in need. Our dedicated team of medical professionals and volunteers offer screenings, consultations, and necessary treatments, ensuring that even the most underserved communities receive the care they deserve.
Education for Every Orphan Child
Chaanan extends support to orphans through two projects:
- ‘No Orphan without Education,’ ensuring all educational needs are fulfilled.
- ‘Family Assistance Program,’ catering to all household necessities.
We believe education is the key to unlocking a brighter future. Through our scholarship programs, we support orphan children in pursuing their academic dreams. By covering school fees, providing educational materials, and offering mentorship, we empower these young minds to break free from the cycle of poverty and reach their full potential.
Community Wellness Project: Access to Safe Drinking Water in Remote Villages
We have implemented Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in villages near Haroonabad and Hasilpur, District Bahawalnagar, to address the challenge of providing potable water. Residents previously relied on untreated canal water, which posed health risks due to its brown color and high salinity. Groundwater in the area has a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level exceeding 19,000, far above the recommended threshold of 900 for drinking water. By installing RO plants equipped with sea-water membranes, we have successfully treated this water, ensuring its safety and suitability for consumption. Since September 2016, we have been distributing clean, drinkable water to the residents at no cost, thereby contributing to their well-being and health.
Wedding Assistance Program: Supporting Orphan Girls
Chaanan extends a helping hand to orphan girls, ensuring they step into their new lives with confidence and joy. Through our financial support program, we alleviate the burden of marriage expenses, enabling these young women to embark on their journey towards a brighter future.
We recognize the societal pressure surrounding the practice of Jahaiz (dowry), yet we do not endorse it. However, understanding its prevailing social significance, we extend our support to orphan girls by providing essential items for their marriages.
We focus on providing tangible necessities only.
Rozgar Program: Empowering Economic Independence
Chaanan is committed to economic empowerment, especially for widows and impoverished families. Our Rozgar program provides training, resources, and financial assistance to help them establish small businesses and gain financial independence. By fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance, we aim to uplift communities and foster long-term sustainability.
Some of our efforts include:
- Providing sewing machines to women
- Offering push-carts and supplies to initiate street vending businesses
- Offering financial assistance to establish small shops/stalls
- Providing tools tailored to various professions
